Dave Bennett, Detroit's sensational multi genre artist is bringing his signature sounds to the Heinz Hall!
Dave Bennett was born in Pontiac (Michigan) in 1984 and is a singer and clarinet virtuoso who also plays electric guitar, piano, and drums. He began his musical journey at the age of 10 when his grandparents gave him clarinet. He taught himself to play to along to Benny Goodman (the famous jazz clarinetist and bandleader known as the King of Swing) and his debut performance was in his 5th grade band concert. When has just 12 years old, legendary jazz trumpeter Doc Cheatham invited him to perform at New York’s famous Sweet Basil jazz club. 2 years later, he traveling all over the country with Michigan’s New Reformation Dixieland Band on the jazz festival circuit. At 17, he was selected (from a pool of 600) as one of two high school students to perform as a special guest soloist with The Count Basie Orchestra. He went on to have a stellar career with 2 studio albums and he's performed at The Sacramento Music Festival, The Southern Oregon Music Festival, The Central Illinois Jazz Festival, The Clambake Jazz Festival, The Redwood Coast Music Festival, and the Bern Jazz Festival (Switzerland).
