Evanescence, Arkansas’ sensational goth rock and metal artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Heinz Hall!
The band was formed in Little Rock (Arkansas) in 1995 by singer and pianist Amy Lee along with guitarist Ben Moody. They first met a year earlier at a local youth camp where Ben heard Amy play Meatloaf’s I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That) on the piano. They began writing songs together, 2 of which started getting a lot of airplay on local radio stations. They released 2 extended plays and it wasn’t long before they got a record deal. They moved to Los Angeles and in 2003, they added John LeCompt, Rocky Gray and Will Boyd to the line up. They released their debut studio album shortly thereafter and it was a smash hit, selling seven million copies in the United States and over 17 million copies worldwide. It got them 5 Grammy nominations for Album of the Year, Best Rock Album, Best Rock Song, Best Hard Rock Performance, Best New Artist, of which the band won the latter 2. The band’s been through some line up changes since then and it currently consists of Amy Lee (lead vocals, keyboards, piano, harp), Tim McCord (bass guitar), Will Hunt (drums), Troy McLawhorn (lead guitar, backing vocals), and Jen Majura (rhythm guitar, backing vocals).
