How The Grinch Stole Christmas!, the sensational musical about Dr. Seuss' classic holiday tale is coming to the Heinz Hall!

How The Grinch Stole Christmas! is a musical adaptation of the eponymous book by German-American author, political cartoonist, poet, animator, book publisher, and artist Theodor Seuss Geisel (who used the pen name Dr. Seuss). Born in Springfield (Massachusetts) in 1904, he went on to write several of the most popular children's books of all time. His books have sold over 600 million copies and have been translated into more than 20 languages. He's received many accolades including two Academy awards, two Emmy awards, 2 Lewis Carroll Shelf Awards, a Peabody award, the Laura Ingalls Wilder Medal, and the Pulitzer Prize. He also has a star on the Hollywook Walk of Fame and his birthday has been chosen (by the National Education Association) as the annual date for National Read Across America Day. How the Grinch Stole Christmas! tells the story of a grouchy, solitary creature (named Grinch) who tries to ruin Christmas by stealing Christmas-themed items from people's homes on Christmas Eve. The book was first adapted to a musical in 1994 and it premiered on Broadway in November 2006 at the Foxwoods Theatre (then the Hilton theatre) .
